Denali And The Alaska Range Panorama

Originally intended as an Image Of The Month (October, 2002), this image is a composite of 5 digital images stitched together in PhotoShop. If I had used a wide angle lens to caputure the image in a single frame, Denali and the Alaska Range Mountains would have been quite small, and too much foreground and sky would have been included. By stitching together these slightly telephoto images (equivalent to 112mm on 35mm film), the mountains and foothills appear much closer for better viewing.

In preparation for a new website I plan to launch this summer that will feature Interactive Panoramas (some with 360 degree views!) of Denali National Park, I converted the original image into a QuickTime movie format that allows the viewer to navigate through the photograph.
